TMU harvest party celebrates Black and Indigenous food programs

Toronto Metropolitan University’s (TMU) newest rooftop farm held a harvest party to commemorate the work being done to increase Black food sovereignty and the sharing of Indigenous teachings.

The party, held on Oct. 6, was dedicated to the Indigenous Foodways Program and Black Food Sovereignty Initiative. It also celebrated the launch of the new urban farm on the Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences (DCC) rooftop which was completed in 2021.

Toronto Concert Choir is finding its way back on campus

The Toronto Concert Choir (TCC) hopes to bring classical choral singing back to campus. The choir, which started in 2020, follows in the footsteps of the former Oakham House Choir, who were a part of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) for over 35 years.

Women students at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) expressed concern over the frequency of sexual harassment and catcalling on campus. As daylight hours decrease, women on campus say they want better security in order to feel safe when walking between buildings.

Many students described the amount of open space on campus as a safety concern after multiple sexual assaults were reported last semester, according to the TMU Community Safety and Security’s website.
